Bruchou has been active in assisting foreign and local oil and gas companies in their specific needs, including the negotiation of project investment agreements, joint operating agreements, crude and gas sales agreements, among others, as well as all kind of regulatory work needed to conduct their daily activities.

Since the discovery of Vaca Muerta formation in the Neuquén Province as a prolific shale oil and gas reservoir, the Oil & Gas Practice Group is increasingly involved in transactions and day to day advise to upstream clients with interests in the expansion of this reserve of unconventional hydrocarbons in Argentina.

The Firm’s practice in the field of oil and gas regulations is an integral part of its overall services to players in the energy sector. Corporate lawyers work closely with regulatory experts and lawyers from other areas such as banking and capital markets, tax, litigation and labor, among others, to assist clients in the execution of complex transactions.

Regulatory advice includes compliance with requirements from governmental agencies (Secretary of Energy, Federal Commission for Hydrocarbons Investments, ENARGAS, provincial agencies, among others) in the structuring and consummation of the transactions, obtaining regulatory approvals and assisting the client in the day-to-day matters with those agencies.

In recent years, we have also been increasingly involved with our clients providing them with legal support and advice in connection with renewable energy projects, biofuels production and carbon emissions reductions. In these fields, we provide our clients with a full range of legal services covering the creation of corporate structures, negotiation of plant construction and operation agreements, trading and commercialization of their output (energy, fuels and more recently carbon allowances).
